I've been unable to find this answer in a lot of searching.
I think I'm using Moodle 3.9 or so. It is a pretty plain vanilla version that's locked down tightly and the admins don't want to add any plug-ins so formula question type, etc. are not options.
Is it possible to do summations or calculated series in a moodle answer?
Due to cheating and large class numbers, I'd like to have my question's main numbers as wildcards. I know how to do that.

I know if I limit n to a constant, I could create a formula, but I'd like to keep n variable.
It's a longshot, I know, but I am constantly impressed with the creativity of answers I see on these forums. I thought someone might have an idea.
