Hello, I'm a student using moodle and I have gone through the results of the UX Survey. Moodle, in my opinion, is a perfectly designed platform and the calendar tool is super helpful. In theory.
But in reality this doesn't work, because different teachers have different skill levels and use different options. Some experiment with the coolest features and others, well, they don't use the platform as it is intended. For example, a lot of my teachers leave out the deadline, rendering the calendar feature practically useless. Also some teachers lock content so it is not possible to have 100% on a course.
The solution I suggest would be to have this kind of feed like view I appended. This way students can always see whats coming up/new. No matter if the teachers implement a deadline or not (in contrast to calendar). Also, compared to the courses view it is much easier to get an overview of what is new.
I'd be more than happy to answer questions related to my post I would also like to say, that I really love moodle and the fact it's open source. ^^
