Installing and upgrading help

we switched the cron running only on one webserver serveral weeks ago. But the error still occurs sometimes:
"Failed to unserialise data from file. Either failed to read, or failed to write."

Any other ideas to solve it?
May database session handling the source? (first quick tests changing it to Redis failed in our testing environment)
