As an instructor and instructional designer, seeing bungled HTML content from students / faculty is frustrating (e.g, multiple sized fonts, awkward spacing, etc.). Because the text editor in Moodle prioritizes the local HTML of content in each text box, when students and faculty copy and paste from the web or word processors, Moodle retains awkward spacing, fonts, etc. The entire point of using Moodle as a Learning Management System is to streamline the experience of teaching and learning. Seeing bungled formatted HTML is, in my view, one of the most significant frustrations of end-users with Moodle.
My web browser has a way to clean up content and strip away ads and content besides pictures and text and puts it into a clean, easy-to-read format. Is there a way to do this with a plugin for Moodle? Can we add this as a button? or code it to work better with existing web browser functionality which already does this? (for example, when looking at a forum post, Safari web browser can clean up the text for the very first forum post, but will not find or clean up the others).
Any effort to make readability a priority would greatly streamline the end-user experience. I would love to see this find its way into Moodle 4.0. If there is already a solution, I apologize for not already knowing and would much appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction.
