Trust me, I have been searching for answers and noticed what happened with 3.8. I removed all my old plugins, but nothing seems to be helping.

Hi

I saw that you've tried at another place too: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=405359#p1677102. Why don't you start your own thread giving full background information. Riding piggy-back on other discussions is not well received in forums.

If it is a caching issue, Hardware and performance forum could be relevant, or even the General developer forum.

Didn't mean to upset any system policies. I just need help. Feel free to delete my posts.

My aplologies, if I was undiplomatic. You must understand, this community is so diverse, and I specifically come from a different cultural/language background not always reading between lines. Honestly, if you build up the necessary information, I'll be glad to help - if I can.

BTW, I am just a community member, can't delete nor have the intention to delete posts. The usual practice of the moderators here is to move discussions between forums or in this case, split the "branch".

Please move or split the post as you see fit. I'm fine with that. I know you're supporting all of us on a voluntary basis and doing a great job because you care. As to my case, I'm trying to enable cache javascript on a Moodle 3.10. I have checked all the plugins (updated and deleted). I have no idea why I am unable to cache javascript and get a strange outcome. When I enable it, the drop down menus do not work. I would keep it off, but having javascript cache on enables me to have Google Meet for Moodle working. The teachers on the site want to be able to use it instead of Jitsi which is also free. Any ideas on what may be causing the problem?

Thank you.

No harm. Expecting the sub-thread will be split, gave it a new subject line.

What happens wenn you enable  Site administration > Appearance > AJAX and Javascript: Cache Javascript (cachejs)? Or, do you have it in config.php as $CFG->cachejs = true; ? What happens?

What is your platform? Windows? Linux? Which flavour/distribution/version? PHP? Other caching mechanisms utilized? Redis? Memcache(d)? (reverse) proxies (Varnish? Nginx? ...)

I enable it on the site admin > Ajax and Javascript Cache - Yes. I have a cPanel with Linux, PHP. I have a WHM with a few Moodle sites using the same caching systems. Everything is fine with them. Just this "old site" from 2009 has the problem.

So you have a bunch of Moodle instances. On the same machine? What is a WHM? Do you mean the control interface called Web Host Manager?

So all the other sites work perfectly https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=405359#p1676827. Only this "old site" from 2009 has a problem? What happens when you activate Javascript cache? See my previous post.

And also we need much more details about the software. See my earlier post (the one with many question marks). You want a specific answer to a specific technical problem, right? Then we have to be technical, sorry!

As already said, I don't know this Javacache corner. The idea is for you to provide enough information here so that a specialist can give advice.

Thank you for your help. I believe I responded "somewhere" on what happens when I activate javascript cache. The menus "freeze". There was no error message when I turned debugging fully on, but the menus including the profile menu and turn editing on  stopped functioning. They didn't open. Does that make sense?

The answer I got from Edwiser support when I enquired whether their theme was interfering with the enable javascript was to keep cache javascript disabled. BTW, when using Boost I was having the same technical issues.

If the issue is not a plugin on my Moodle site, then is it something else? Or is it a Moodle 3.10 occurrence?

I hope things will go back to normal and I will not need be able to use Google Meet for Moodle with the cache javascript off. I know the developer is working on it.
