Hi!

How can I remove data after end of school year(s)? How to empty the moodledata folder (regularly)?

(We have backup of database + files)

The simplest option is just Reset_course.

I don't really understand your point about Moodledata. If you delete content that is no longer required it will go from moodledate. However, you have to make sure Cron is running.

+1 to Howard's advice ... with addition that when you run reset, turn down each option for what to reset and see options.  Missing resetting student submissions to assignments could result in some strange things.

Also, advise doing just one course that has a large number of participants in it to see if recyclebin is involved.   Set recyclebin to show in course admin menu all the time ... instead of it's default which is to hide unless there is something in recyclebin.   Also consider setting recyclebin for the shortest time to retain whatever as that would get things into trashdir a lot faster and thus deleted from moodledata.

Cron job running smoothly?

It is running correctly.

We want to delete all unnecessery data after end of courses (school year). We have an own server for Moodle with 1TB (raid1) disk for moodledata.
Now (halftime of courses): database ~500MB, moodledata ~20GB
We don't know how much space will be required. smile
