Default "Email display" setting

Hi,

Is there a way to set the default "Email display" setting for new users to "Hide my email address from non-privileged users"?

I don't really want students being able to view other students details such as this as we have a course that is open to both adults and juniors (aged 13 to 18).

Thanks.

Hi Richard,

Yes, you can set the default "Email display" setting for new users to "Hide my email address from non-privileged users" in Site administration / Users / Accounts / User default preferences.

Helen,

Is there a way to apply to those settings to existing students through some sort of bulk action? We forgot to set the default to "Hide my email..." when setting up our new Moodle.

Hi Lorin,

We're in a similar situation looking to apply these settings to everyone with existing accounts. Were you able to find a solution for it?
