I tried to make use of display of expressions in question texts and feedback using \({@@}\). However, I am not happy with the result. In particular, I have a formula

which I write in the question variables as

`w5right: (F*l^3/(6*E*I_y))*(b/l*x/l*(1-b^2/l^2-x^2/l^2) + (x/l-a/l)^3);`

and try to display using:

`\(\displaystyle w(x)={@w5right@}\)`

The result is

Main problem is the overly greedy denominator and the resulting tiny subexpressions), only partially mitigated by \displaystyle. My ideas for improving the situation all break the smartness of using the same expression for answer tests and for feedback.

I could split the expression and put them into separate {@@} items but it seems that this might end up worse than just re-typing the stuff in latex.

Are there any display switches in Stack or Maxima to improve this?
