Since the question was asked repeatedly and it might have been felt that this was not possible, let me stress that, yes, it is possible with the Formulas question type to use student answers to some questions as data for other questions.
There are a few restrictions though. All questions must be in the same part and the behavior of the quiz must be set to "Interactive with multiple tries". Otherwise, the question can be worked out easily with the Grading variables and criterion. You don't even need JavaScript.
This capability means that the Formulas question can be used for questions pertaining to laboratory experiments or for any other situation where you want to use student answers to certain questions as data for other questions.
