Cannot revoke permissions to edit front page

Cannot revoke permissions to edit front page

I cannot find out how to ensure neither the Manager nor Course Creator roles are allowed to edit the site's front page.  I tried to follow this documentation: https://docs.moodle.org/19/en/admin/roles/permissions#Revoking_or_Removing_a_permission_in_the_Front_Page, but I think since the place I work has such an old version of Moodle (2.6.1 - I'm new here, but believe me: I'm pushing hard for updating) the process is different.

I could only include two screenshots here, but I've ensured no one is allowed "role switches," "role overrides," and/or "role assignments" for "Authenticated user on front page."

We want only site admins to have permissions to make changes to the site's front page, since we have a lot of different people who need access to different things on the site and don't want them unintentionally (or unilaterally) making global edits.

Can anyone help?

Hi JBL Admin.

I had exactly the same issue as you. We are on Moodle 3.5 - I had checked everything and have worked with our provider but I had still not been able to resolve this issue.

I searched through the forums and found the following post: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=399140#p1610478 see the final post.

I ended up removing the following capability for role based on the archetype manager role: the capability is: moodle/course:update

I have tested the role and the ability to edit front page settings is now removed. I checked that the role can still edit course - which is what we require.

Kind regards. Paul.
