Hello,

I am trying to implement our entrance evaluation in moodle, but I cannot figure out how to do a specific question.

As you can see from the following question, the correct answer is a) Yes or No and the rest of the questions are supposed to be left unanswered.

If I change the question, we will have to go through a huge regulatory process.

Does anyone have any advise?

Can you follow directions?

Yes or No
a) Have you taken any computer classes before?
b) Are you familiar with MS Word?
c) Can you type more than 30 words/minute
d) Did you attend high school in Ontario?
 e)  Only answer question a).

Hi Michael,
This does not look like a Quiz question at all, more likely a Questionnaire/Survey type question.
What exactly is the aim of your quiz/survey?

This question is supposed to test a candidate's ability to read and follow instructions.
If they read the question all the way before answering, they will only put an answer in question a)
Because this is a test, they need to be able to incorrectly input answers in b) to e)

I've tried using matching questions and gap questions, but I cannot make a blank answer be the correct answer.

One possibility is to have a default answer (that looks blank) that is also correct for those questions. but I cannot figure out how to do that.

Hi Michael,
Sorry, but I still do not understand what you are trying to achieve. Does this mean I would not pass the exam entry into your institution? thoughtful

I don't think you can do exactly that. It is, bascially, a trick question.

If you want to engage in that sort-of trickery, then you probably can do something effectively the same using one of the built in question types, but the exact form would have to be different. You will need to get creative.

(But, it is a made a bit tricky by the fact that Moodle tries hard to stop students from accidentally forgetting to answer part of the question, so it will warn about parts of the question that are left blank, which is not what you want.)
