We are using Moodle 3.9.
We have saved files in a drive - folder - sub folder - file structure on a NAS connected to the same network as the Moodle Server.
In the courses we create, we would like the students to have access to the saved documents (as above) on the NAS. We would not like to use the Folder / File resource as that copies the files into Moodle and bloats the Moodle size, while the original file also remains where it is and occupies space. Our questions are:
1. Can we use the URL resource for the course in the Add Activity, to provide a URL for a file on the NAS using URL resource in Add Activity?
2. Can a URL be provided in a course to a file on the same device as the Moodle server (localhost/Moodle) using URL resource in Add Activity?
Basic intention is have the document in one place only, i.e in the filing structure outside Moodle and not copied into Moodle. However, the students should have access to the document via a link.
