I have been using Excel for some time to generate my own question banks for Moodle. Recently I set essay questions, but different sections of the question bank require different Response Options settings, e.g. some essay questions require only a file upload, whereas others require only a typed response. Is there a way to include the settings in the GIFT 'code' before importing to Moodle from Excel? I'm working with thousands of questions, so making the changes after importing is not an option.
Alternatively, is there a way to change the default Response Options settings for only a specific sub category of questions after import?
