We are having a similar issue. We are seeing instructors who have forced subscription and auto subscription on their forums which generating thousands of messages. We had a 27K backlog. Our server admin said there was a change from 3.6 to 3.8 that prevents forum messages from being sent on a schedule.
Are you seeing this? Anyone else familiar with it?
v3.6 behavior:
forum post -> send-email-task (executes immediately) -> continue
v3.8 behavior:
forum post -> schedule an adhoc task (no deadline, does not execute immediately) -> continue
He saw a backlog of 20K adhoc tasks. Once he manually ran something, the emails started being sent out.
