"Web service function called" events

Hello,

In the logs, I keep seeing a significant number of "Web service function called" events  from one user compared to anyone else.

The description for nearly all of these records is "The web service function 'core_message_get_messages' has been called."

Here is a clipping of estimated daily total log entries under that description for user 'x' who has the most vs the next highest user.

log records

9/7 15,700 user x
9/7 1,700 next highest user
9/6 5,090 user x
9/6 1,000 next highest user
9/5 800 user x
9/5 400 next highest user
9/4 6,600 user x
9/4 1,100 next highest user
9/3 4,300 user x
9/3 1,400 next highest user
9/2 2,000 user x
9/2 2,000 next highest user
9/1 3,900 user x
9/1 1,500 next highest user

Is normal or is there a concern?

Thank you.

Hi,

that WebService can be called a lot when using messaging in the app. If the user is viewing a discussion with another user, the app will call this WebService every certain seconds to check if there's a new message. My guess is that the user left a discussion open and the app kept calling the WebService to fetch the messages.

Cheers,
Dani
