One of the new features for Moodle 3.9 is the content bank. The content bank is a place for users to create content that will be available all along the site, and we really think it could help teachers and instructional designers to share and reuse the created content.
For now the only standard content type developed to use in the content bank is the H5P one, to create, edit and reuse H5P content. But we designed the content bank for community to develop new content types; new editors; new ideas.
So to explain our ideas and how to develop new content type plugins, we prepared a workshop for the Global MoodleMoot Online 2020. During the workshop we share our ideas with attendees, talk about the content bank, about new plugin type... and receive their feedback to prepare future improvements. Sharing with community developers is always great and enlightening. We all want to make the best out of Moodle
We enjoyed the workshop a lot, and we hope also attendees enjoyed it. So now we are opening the workshop for everybody in the community by providing it as a course on this site: Developing a basic content-bank plugin
During the course you will find some sliders explaining the basics of the content bank and new content type plugin type. And an amazing lesson will guide you step by step to create a new content type plugin. We think this workshop could be very helpful for
- developers that already know how to develop a Moodle plugin but want to know new tricks for content type plugins,
- and for new developers in Moodle that want to learn how to develop any kind of plugin.
So feel free to try Developing a basic content-bank plugin workshop and, of course, send any feedback you think could help to improve the workshop or the content bank.
Looking forward to hearing your comments.
Thanks for helping us to make Moodle better day by day.
