LA is one of the disciplines that use data to study how learning processes. Another popular and related discipline is Educational Data Mining (EDM), both are related to the fields you mentioned in your original post. The main difference is that LA generally approaches studies from an educational point of view and it is more related to educational sciences, while EDM approaches studies from a computer science point of view and it is more related to data mining and computing sciences.
