I am not certain if I understand your question. As a learning management system, moodle automatically records grades for all graded activities and displays these in the moodle gradebook. Students can view their grades after logging in by clicking on the Grades link from their course page. Setting up the gradebook can seem complex from the teachers' perspective, as it is structured to handle so many different requirements and local parameters in given contexts. Adding to this, the teacher can add grades items for things that the student does/completes offline as well. I agree with @David, gradebook is pretty easy to use for students.
