As far as I know, the only way to add a permanent watermark is to recode the video. That's a CPU & GPU intensive task. To give you an idea, upload a video to YouTube. YouTube will re-code your video from the moment you start uploading & it won't be ready to playback for several minutes after it's finished uploading. YouTube uses dedicated, optimised, high-power servers to do this. Now imagine how long a regular server will take to do this. And then think about how easy it is for someone with a watermarked video to simply blur the text so that it can't be read.
You can easily add a temporary overlay watermark as a subtitle/caption & this will show up in screenshots.
