I wish! I lived in Catalunya for 7 years so I can understand Catalan OK but, to my disgrace, I didn't learn enough to speak it, only enough to proof-read & edit Google Translate.
In my defence, almost everyone I knew there, even Catalanes preferred to speak Castellano in social groups. I think they mostly wanted to make outsiders, like me, feel welcome. What's that uniquely Catalan word for being open to & welcoming outsiders & cultivating a shared sense of belonging? I can't quite remember.
Anyway, I'm joining the "Brexodus" & moving back to Spain in September. This time, I'll have to commit to learning to actually speak Catalan
