Users email being updated to add .invalid at the end

Users email being updated to add .invalid at the end

I've noticed that if a Moodle user has an out of office on their account and Moodle tries to send them a notification their email address in the user gets updated to <<email address>>.invalid

We're using Moodle Cloud. Any idea why this is happening?

Hi Sam,

If your site sends a message to a user and a "bounce" is detected (per our email provider's rules), the '.invalid' is added to prevent further emails being sent out to that person. This is required to prevent all MoodleCloud email being flagged as spam.

If you believe this has been done erroneously, please open a support request from the MoodleCloud Portal, providing the email address, and we'll be able to investigate further.

Thanks I've done a test and it looks like it's happening when there's an out of office on the email address, which is causing us a few issues.
