I just realized that I posted to a thread in the social forum about this. It probably better belongs here.

Defective auto-reply and envelope senders
by Sylvia Currie - Monday, 27 February 2006, 10:46 PM
I'm picking up an earlier thread related to users receiving auto-reply messages from other forum subscribers. Martin mentioned that when this occurs it is because the auto-reply system on the user's email service is defective, and that any auto-reply messages should go to the "envelope" sender (Martin in the case of moodle.org, a primary admin user on any other site, I assume).

Could someone elaborate a bit on this for me? Is there a way I can prevent this from happening? Or can it only be solved on a case by case basis? It seems that yahoo mail is in the "defective" category, and we have a few yahoo email users on our site. I use Moodle to support an educator community and I can see this problem really getting out of hand as more members join.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks!
