Hello,
I am look for the steps to duplicate a course in Moodle. I will have one original course, then multiple versions of that course for different teachers to teach from. Therefore, it would be great if the courses were synced - so if I make any changes to the original course, it makes the changes on the duplicates as well. Is this possible, if so what are the steps to do this?
Duplicating a course multiple times

Don't do that! I started out with that presumption, but, instead, make one classroom and put your teachers in separate groups in the same classroom. When you change the one course, that's all you need to do. We use groups and groupings. Really very simple!
Re: Duplicating a course multiple times
And will you be allowing teachers to make any changes within their own course? If so, what happens to their changes? Do you want them to go back to the original? And what do would you want to happen if the teacher makes a change, for example changes the words in a heading, then the master makes a different change to the master. Which change should persist.
As I recall, there is a feature in Moodle to perhaps do what you wish, but I cannot recall its name (cloning?) I don't do this myself, but maybe some else will remember the feature. (Sorry.)
I can think about all kinds of problems that might occur when trying to "sync" courses. I would tend to use Ben's suggested approach.

Re: Duplicating a course multiple times
Thank you both for your help! I do not want the teacher to be able to edit the course - only admin who access the master to edit, then non-editing teachers who teach from the duplicates. So it would be easier to have one course for all different classes/teachers/students to be a part of? Even if we want this hidden/viewed on different dates?
Re: Duplicating a course multiple times
Right. You create a template course. That you keep safe. You replicate the template one time. Non-editing teachers won't be able to edit in the replicated course. You add groups when you want them added. You don't hide the course; you suspend a whole group of users. Suspending preserves their work but doesn't allow them to see or do more work.
Re: Duplicating a course multiple times
Are the changes made to the template course reflected in the replicate? I guess this seems like the most secure way, even if there are several different groups going on/growing overtime - since we can suspend the groups. Also, what are the steps to create a template course/can it be from one I already have created?
