Recorded audio won't play for students

Hello

A language teacher at my school wants to make 'dictation' questions about punctuation.
She has made different short-answer questions.

In each question she has an audio fragment. It is a recording of a short sentence. She recorded this with  record RTC.
When she and I (under admin credentials) are editing the questions, the fragment plays just fine.
When we open a preview of the question, the file won't play.

I read in another post that this could work better with mp3-files in poodll. I think the problem is something else, because the file does play inside the editor.

What happens when you view the question in the quiz (ie not in a preview)?
If it plays in the editing area it should really play after saving it. No filter is operating on it in the editing area. But there could be when its displayed regularly.
So its possible one of your Moodle filters is messing with it.
Try disabling them one by one and see if it sparks into life.

Same thing happens in the quiz.
I had already disabled VideoJS and enabled HTML5. Same results. Except fot those, I have none. What would happen if I switch off those as well?

Those are not filters. Those are players. Filters are at:
Site administration -> plugins -> filters -> manage filters
