As an instructor, how do I know if Topcoll has been installed?

As an instructor, how do I know if Topcoll has been installed?

I am told that it is installed but don't as an instructor, how to implement it.

I had my own Moodle Server back in 2016 and used it then but the memory fades.  Is there a better add-on/plugin that has replaced it?

I did the google search for TopColl but in the video she calls it Collapsed Topics so maybe it should be CollTop?

I do not see "Collapsed Topics in the Course Format, format pull down menu.
THis suggests that it is not fully installed.

I updated my question. It should have read TopColl. I also added a few other comments to the original question.

Sneaky big grin

If it's not in the drop-down for the course format then you don't have it (or it's not enabled)

Steve, if you are referring to "collapsed topics" by Gareth, you will know if Collapsed Topics is installed by going into a course, edit mode, Course Format, and see that Collapsed Topics is installed.  (see graphic)

However, I think that I learned that someone else also has a plugin for collapsing topics.  So I am not sure which one you are referring to.

If Collapsed Topics is instally, you should also see a ..moodle/course/format/topcoll folder.

OK, it all comes back to me now. Yes it not in the pull down menu. Now I can bounce this back to the admin knowing that it is not going to be a problem of my just not seeing it.
Thanks

I believe that the teacher might have rights to make this switch because it is a course-level setting. But I am not sure since I am always the Manager role.

Yes, apparently it is a course-level setting. I found a very good video on-line that demonstrates how to use it. Apparently it is not actually installed on this system or it might not be enabled at the admin level.

Well, simply tell your Moodle administrator to install it.

In my video, I show a simple cPanel way to install Collapsed Topics.

I need to be told this? (-:

More so, I will remind him to install/check it. He did say that it was installed with others but he has significant end-of-the year woes especially with IT. My comments here were just to make sure that that would be a good next step and that I was not just missing the signs.

Might share this with your overtaxed admin person ...

The zip of
https://moodle.org/plugins/download.php/20685/format_collapsibletopics_moodle38_2019111700.zip

has __MACOSX directories in it which, when unzipped, puts some errant __MACOSX directories in moodlecode/course/format/

unzip -l format_collapsibletopics_moodle38_2019111700.zip
Archive:  format_collapsibletopics_moodle38_2019111700.zip
  Length      Date    Time    Name
---------  ---------- -----   ----
        0  11-25-2019 18:40   collapsibletopics/
      921  11-25-2019 18:40   collapsibletopics/.travis.yml
        0  11-26-2019 04:14   __MACOSX/
        0  11-26-2019 04:14   __MACOSX/collapsibletopics/

Might be confusing proper install of plugin.

The "__MACOSX" directory can be removed manually.

If present, after you login and using browser URL line, go directly to:

https://yoursite/course/format/collapsibletopics/README.md

Outta here!
