Email settings are not working in moodle.

I am using Xampp server to host moodle 3.8 locally. I added the email settings but sending an email from moodle fails.

To assure that I'm using the correct settings, I send an email using power shell (using same mail server settings) and it successfully send. Moreover I added the same settings at Xampp level and created test page to send email and its also successful.

is there any additional settings i need to do.. ?

Sorry forgot to add error message...

"Your site couldn't communicate with your mail server. Please check your outgoing mail configuration. "

You mention that you are hosting locally. Is the machine you have Moodle on behind a firewall or router that might be preventing access to the SMTP server?

Thanks for reply, its host at VM behind a firewall, but I already verify that SMTP sever is accessible from Moodle VM.
To make sure the connectivity I use Power Shell & separate PHP page to send an email from same server using same SMTP settings and it is working fine .
Only Moodle is unable to send an email.

Moreover I try different smtp settings that's working perfectly in other applications but in Moodle its also fails and error message remains the same.

Error message remains the same " Your site couldn't communicate with your mail server. Please check your outgoing mail configuration. "

Is there any way inside the Moodle that i can trouble shoot the issue. ?

The straightforward method would be to check the logs of the SMTP server. That said, it is odd that you've filled "mywebserver.com" under SMTP hosts?

BTW, this is not about a plug-in, rather a core functionality in Moodle.

I am running into similar issues. I have tried setting it up for office365 as well as gmail to no avail.

Not sure what is going on.

Any tips?
