Checklist - students not seeing checkbox\progress indicator

Apologies for what I can't help feel is a noobie question, but after installing checklist I can create a checklist as a teacher and preview it fine, but students cannot see the checkboxes, just the list items.

Any ideas?

Did you set it for students to fill in or teachers? Do your students have the capability mod/checklist:updateown ?

If either of those conditions aren't met then students won't be able to fill in the checklist items.
