Ok, so I would like students to get emailed Announcements especially from the Site Home. But when they reply, I dont want their replies to be emailed out. They are currently Forced Subscribed. Is there a way to fix this. Im using Moodle 3.5
I don't understand why you would want to do this. Aren't replies to posts just as important as the original Announcement?
I guess you've changed the permissions in your Announcements forum, as by default students can't reply to forums of this type?
Here on moodle.org, ordinary users don't have permission to reply to the Announcements forum on the front page. If users are likely to want to reply to a particular announcement in order to discuss it further / give feedback etc. then we start a discussion in a forum in the course Moodle in English and link to it from the announcement post. Forums in Moodle in English have optional subscription, so people can choose whether they want email notification of posts. An example of such an announcement post is New Moodle Admin Basics MOOC.
I wonder if Brad, however, was implying all forums. Let's see what Brad says.
What I really want to happen, is for someone to post an Announcement, and then those who reply become subscribed to that Post. Which is essentially a Forum, however, the posts display in full and nicely on the Front Page.
For example, our Headmaster put out a Video called the Headmasters Challenge which appears very nicely on the Frontpage as an Announcement but students should then be able to reply to the Announcement. I dont want to set up a separate post for each announcement on the frontpage in a forum.
And I do want all students to be emailed the Announcement, but only students who reply should get emailed about replies to that post...
