Somehow, I am of the mentality that I like to see "activity" and that my email system verifies this activity. In my email client, I send all my Moodle course emails into one "inbox." Yes, it takes a moment to highlight these and press the delete key, but this is a small trade-off with knowing that posts are happening, even my own.
