Transfer course to a previous Moodle version

Hello,

I have a course on a server with Moodle 2.9, and I need to put it on Moodle 2.4. Is it possible to do any workaround to do that?

Thanks!

Nope. It's not supported.

However, if you haven't already, try it. You might get lucky.

Do I need to point out how old those two sites are? Even the very last version of 2.4 has been completely unsupported for six years!!

Well, not that 'lucky', but ... how valueable is the course?  By that I mean are you willing to do some work and maybe get partial?   Wouldn't involve sys admins of servers.

Depends upon what failed ... users?  files?  mods/blocks?

Download the backup ... it's a gunzip archive.  If you have a Mac or a Linux box one can un-archive locally.   IF the backup wasn't an 'nu' backup means it contained users.   Remove user.xml and associated resources tied to those users.  Re-package backup to .mbz, try restore.

Your tinker site is a localhost version ... of any version you like.

Will say that more than likely only humanly recognizable files could be reasonably extracted from the course backups.  To much change to things like forums/activities, etc.
