Extra HTML Characters by Default as part of the Atto Editor

We are having an issue where the editor in HTML code includes <p><br></p> by default. Is there a way to control this so that such code does not show up. We believe this is causing some issues particularly with matching quiz questions where the instructor is including only the answer and not the question. In this case, the students are presented with additional blank entries as part of the choices/questions.

Thank you in advance. Environment: Moodle 3.8, LAMP

I've reported this as a bug since it prevents course imports from working properly. When that extraneous code is present in a Course Section summary, then you cannot import content into it during the Import process. MDL-68982

just voted for MDL-68982. This issue is driving me insane and causing so much time and rework to remove the extra characters.

Hey John,

I seems to me that adding style= code where and when I don't want it is quite the bug. Has it ever been brought up? Can it be stopped?
