what could be stopping learners from submitting quizzes?

hi i maintain a moodle accessed by primary school pupils. we uses quizzes quite a lot. some of the children are experiencing problems doing the quizzes but then their marks are not recorded. they promise they are clicking submit and finish afterwards, although as the children are spread out in different schools each school with different setups it is difficult to know.

assuming the children are completing the quizzes correctly, is there anything else that could explain why their marks are not being recorded. what could we check on their school machines? do things like cookies being blocked cause a problem? is there anything else we could check as well that could explain the problem?

any suggestions gratefully needed!

Are you perhaps using PostgreSQL as your database? There were problems with early versions of Moodle 1.5 when using that database which led to grades not being stored.

Depending on what review options you have set for the quiz the students should be shown a review page after finishing an attempt. That would probably be useful as they will immediately know if something went wrong.

We thought we were having a problem with quiz grades being recorded, and it was really a gradebook display problem. In our environment and using gradebookplus, the columns don't correspond correctly, and so students appear to have a 0 for a quiz they have taken.

With us, the average was correctly computed, and the teacher saw the grade correctly.

thanks for that, i'll look into those possibilities. does anyone know if firewalls or cookie blocking software or internet explorer security settings could also account for this?

apparently the children complete the quiz and get a grade displayed on screen, but when the teacher looks at the grades in the admin block of the course they are marked as 0. we don't use gradebook plus (i think this is an addition to the standard moodle installtion?)

any help appreciated.
