We are running course backups from the cli. They are taking forever. Server has plenty of ram, allocated memory to the mariadb server, etc. No big loads showing during backup. However, we have tens of thousands of courses, and backups of courses that have had activity take over three days. AND - because of the CoronaVirus and remote teaching requirements - more courses are going active (many are provisioned but unused by instructors). As more courses are going active - these course backups will take longer and longer. We are backing up to .mbz files.
Are there parameters/changes that I could make to make the course backups run in parallel vs in serial sequence?
Does anyone have any experience with a backup tuning guide?
I know I could script stuff to backup courses manually, but I'd lose all the neat backup tracking/multiple versioning of the one built into moodle. You know features that know if a class has been changed, or not, so that it can be skipped, or backed up again only if needed, etc.
Many thanks in advance for your kind input.
