I have been working at a university supporting Moodle for several years. And been a developer for over 10 years.
I would like to start spending some time learning how to be a Moodle developer and contributing to Moodle. Can anyone suggest what the best way to get started contributing to Moodle would be?
I've done a lot of coding with microsoft technologies like C# and T-SQL, done some php and work with linux and docker but still learning alot.
Is there an easier place to start reading through Moodle code and contributing to the documentation or an good places to start for getting an understanding of how Moodle Development is done?

Hi James,
please give https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=371898 and https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=355789 a read: you'll find some great tips.

Re: How to get started contributing to Moodle.
Also, if you get the chance, try to get to a Moodle Moot, preferably one where there is a Developer Workshop in the schedule.
Until then, follow the advice that others have already given, which is good.
Also, if you are trying to learn development, you are welcome in the Moodle developer chat: https://docs.moodle.org/dev/Chat which is a good place to get real-time help with development issues.
