I'm looking into several community software platforms, presenting a short-list of recommendations to my client, a major Canadian non-profit organization. Can anyone from the Moodle community offer their endorsement for Moodle as a community hub software?
My client's current need is to move their existing Facebook groups to a more full-featured platform with forums, blogs, private chat, and to grow their community from there. They would like to eventually make this community site into a learning hub. Their LMS requirements are vague, but I know Moodle would handle any of those requirements well.
I have been looking at Moodle for the past three days and I'm excited by what I see. So far, I like it better than any commercial software I have evaluated. And it is open-source. It seems almost too good to be true.
I'm concerned whether Moodle is well-suited as a community hub, or is it first and foremost an LMS with social media features. I want to avoid recommending a product which might be poor fit for their needs, but so far I would enthusiastically recommend Moodle.
Any feedback is dearly appreciated. Thank you.
