My Moodle server has been upgraded from 3.1 to 3.6.
Up to 3.1 the normal practice has been to go to the student's submission, open it in Word or Reader, mark it up, save it and a feedback file back to Moodle (which informs the student), provide a grade, then move to the next student submission - ad infinitum. A copy of the marked up file is saved to my local computer, where it is archived in case a question arises (e.g. reference request) in the years to come.
3.6 .8 opens the file in a browser simulated Word/Reader. I do a lot of marking on a small laptop and the poor rendering inside a browser window makes the text eye-strainingly fuzzy. And the commenting method is different from the native (if cack-handed) Word and Reader methods that I have used for decades.
Can I revert the downloading of assignments to something like the previous method, i.e. by individual student submission opened in the native program - not a bulk download resulting in fiddly uploading?
