I'm currently using Moodle 3.6 with the legacy course overview block. I just started testing Moodle 3.8 and planning to upgrade to that version next summer. The "new" course overview block is a somewhat baffling and hope someone can point me in the right direction to make it work the way *I know* my users will want it to work...
I'd like to know how to emulate as closely as possible what was previously possible in older block versions, where users who choose a default display mode (a "filter" in Moodle 3.8, I guess...) would not see it change when navigating elsewhere on the site (or after disconnecting and reconnectiong later to find that the complete course list is displayed by default). Maybe I just don't understand the logic behind having filters that won't stick...
