"Not Graded" when an assignment has been graded

We are running: Moodle 3.8.1+ (Build: 20200117) Version 2019111801.01 Stable version

However, for activities that are graded it still displays to the student's assignment's 'grading status' is 'not graded'.

The grade and feedback display on the same page. There is a grade in the gradebook, yet why does it still say 'not graded'?

It seems that someone else asks something similar years ago, but no responses so I thought I would start a new thread... with the hope of clarification.

This is pretty close to a wild guess - any chance that there is a problem with cron or one of the scheduled server tasks? Is anything else not happening like it should?

Hi, if you have the setting for "automatic reopening until passing", that is the behaviour when you give a not-pass grade.
