Custom user role: "restrict access" setting hides instead of shows content

Hi,

Having an issue with a custom role that was created within Moodle and the "Restrict Access" settings for content.

I set up the "restrict acccess" unless you are a "student", "teacher", "manager", or my custom role. It works for all the default roles except for the custom role - which completely hides it, instead of making it a disabled link in the course.

Is there a workaround or known issue and way to deal with this?

My moodle version is Moodle 3.8+ (Build: 20200103). I was using the classic default theme then the Adaptable theme both providing the same issue. I was also having this issue in Moodle 3.6 before the upgrade.

Any help would be appreciated. Let me know if more information is needed. Thank you!

UPDATED:

There is a list of settings to "allow" access to blocks, activities, plugins, etc in the custom role settings. I updated this and it was fixed.
