Would it be possible to allow users to record audio in the app? For example H5P have audio recording activity but this will not function in the app and users need to record from internet browser instead.
I have the same issue. I'm not able to see the voice recorder option on the HTML editor when loading through mobile app. I know it has something to do with WebRTC/RecordRTC compatibility issue with the mobile app. But I don't know how to modify the mobile app or allow this feature for mobile app.
I also noticed even if I switch the HTML editor from Atto to TinyMCE or vice verse nothing will happen to the editor on the mobile app. So if someone can provide their expertise on this matter would highly appreciate as this feature is really necessary for the school Moodle site for students to submit voice records as their assignments.
the app editor is different from Moodle editor, so changing the Moodle editor has no effect in the app.
Unfortunately, right now the app's editor doesn't support adding files to the content (image, audio, video, ...) and it isn't easy to implement it. However, if you want your students to submit a voice record to an assignment you can configure the assignment to accept "File submissions", that way students will be able to record an audio and upload it or use an already recorded audio.
the app usually uses an external app to record audio, but H5P doesn't have access to that external app because it runs on an iframe. I guess H5P uses WebRTC like JT says, we'll take a look to see if there's anything we can do to make it work.
Yes I have checked that method Dani. And it works on the browser.
Yes, it'd be great if the audio recording function worked within the Moodle app. In my context, second & foreign language learning & teaching, audio submissions are an important part of mobile LX design. I was chatting with a guy yesterday who was considering which platform to use for mobile-focused learning & on of his main criteria was a seamless record & submit process with as few stages as possible, pretty much the way that Moodle now does it in the web browser. He was more drawn to Wordpress with LMS plugins & developing mobile app wrappers rather than what should be the better, simpler, more stable route of Moodle & app.
At the moment, learners have to switch from the app to a web browser on their phones in order to submit. Additionally, they can't record offline, which is also a popular request I've heard. Explaining that they can use their phone's software to record & save audio isn't really a feasible option as this would increase the demand learner training & support substantially.
Recording & submitting audio within the app as simply & smoothly as possible would be fantastic if you can get it to work!
Just my $0.02!
