I have tried to import the following from a text GIFT file as a quiz question:

::junk1 equation:: what is the value of $$ \int_2^4 \frac {x} {x^2+4} dx $$ to four decimal places? { #0.4581}

When I copy and paste the string associated with the question directly into the question creation window, it looks fine. However, when I import, the filter strips the {x} next to the \frac and makes {x} the answer, and leaves me the question string

"what is the value of $$ \int_2^4 \frac {x^2+4} dx $$ to four decimal places? { #0.4581}"

If I move the answer so that it precedes the equation, the equation shows up correctly, but...

I am a newbie on moodle and have searched many moodle math and quiz threads to find a clue. Any suggestions on proper use would be greatly appreciated.

Eric:

I think you need to escape (use a \ that's called a backslash right?) your curly brackets in your TeX string.
