Upgrade to 3.8 Links and dropdown menus not working

Upgrade to 3.8 Links and dropdown menus not working

I just updated to moodle Moodle 3.8+ (Build: 20191212)   php 7.3

Adapatable theme and Boost are not working correctly.

The links do not work in the navigation at all for Boost. For site admin menu the tab do not work.

The add activity or edit activity link on the course page does not work.

For the adaptable theme the add activity and edit activity links do do not work on the course page.

In navigation the links work but the arrows to the left of the menu items do not open the sub-menus.

I have checked all of the permissions and they are correct.

I upgraded the Moodle exactly as I have many times before.

I wonder if there is a code issue?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Change the theme to Boost and purge all caches, on the Moodle server side and in the browser!

One "cache" specifically: moodledata/muc/config.php.

Thanks,

I purged all caches in Moodle and cleared all browser history in Google

Chrome. It was still the same. I went to Boost and nothing worked. I could

not even get  to theme selector. I had to zip the boost theme and then

delete it to allow moodle to select another theme to get some controls

back.

I think you have a code issue. I have been updating since Moodle 1.6.

I am not sure whether "purge all caches" in Moodle also deletes moodledata/muc/config.cfg.

Browser history is not the same as the browser cache: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050.

To fall back to Boost https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=394799#p1591774. (It is useful to read recent topics and/or launch a search https://moodle.org/mod/forum/search.php?id=5.

Well, there is something wrong in your setup. But it is premature to conclude that there is a (severe) bug in Moodle.

P.S. There are annoying line breaks, double spacing and big spacing at the beginning and the end of your posts(?)

Thanks, I deleted the history on chrome again including history, cached

data, and cookies.

Changed the theme to Classic. It is the same as adaptable for issues. I

changed to Boost clicked site admin and it went to that folder view. When

you click on a tab is displays the link at the top of the page but does not

go there.

https://smarterlearning.ca/moodle/admin/search.php#linkusers is displayed

when you click the users tab.

https://smarterlearning.ca/moodle/admin/search.php#linkcourses is displayed

when you click the courses tab.

Its like those pages are missing.

So only the admin pages are missing? Activate https://docs.moodle.org/en/Debugging, raise the level to maximum and get a detailed protocol.

I turned debugging to maximum and to display. Nothing is showing. The admin pages are not missing. the side admin menu works. If you click on the side menu it will take you to the pages. The toggle does not work, however, that opens the submenu on the side navigation. If I click right on the link it will open below but not on the arrow head. The tabs in the center admin page don't work. They bring up the correct link as shown in the browser but the page never appears. None of the drop down menus work with exception on the lower header menu. Have a look for yourself: https://smarterlearning.ca/moodle . Except for when I tried to create a new user and it won't open the password box. If you give me you email I could get moodle to send you an admin user login. Could it be a bootstrap issue?

Hi

Thanks for reporting! Two things unclear to me:
- Were you ultimately able to see the debugging messages? They go somewhere, unless the underlying web server / PHP framework is broken, or no Moodle scripts are being run. In either case, it is not Moodle's fault.

- What do you mean by "bootstrap elements"? https://moodle.org/plugins/theme_bootstrap ? Or parts of https://moodle.org/plugins/theme_classic ? Themes often cause problems. That is why the default theme of Moodle, currently Boost, is to be taken as reference.

https://moodle.org/plugins/mod_bootstrapelements is a moodle plugin that I installed some time ago and never used. It is only supported to Moodle 3.6. When I turned debugging on I saw performance info in the footer but no error messages. Thanks for the help.
