Student Feedback in Lesson

Student Feedback in Lesson

We have a Lesson activity set up for elementary students where they can provide answers in an Essay form within a Lesson. We would like the teacher to be able to provide Feedback for the student. However, the only way that seems to be possible is through an email.

Given that we are working with elementary students, this is a roadblock. For starters, the Feedback is now disassociated with original work (yes, the student answer is included with the teacher feedback, but in a whole different setting for kids). Also given that each response triggers an additional email, well, this is overwhelming for the students.

Here is what we currently have set up. We have a lesson with 10 pages. 5 of those pages have an Essay field for the student to reflect and respond upon the information. We don't really care about a grade (we would actually prefer no grade at all, just formative feedback).

In the end, the teacher can provide Feedback (Grade Essays), but the student has a tough time seeing the Feedback.

Is there an alternative to email to provide feedback to a student within a Lesson?

Hi Troy,
I don't know any feature within the lesson similar to what you describe. The only alternative I can think of is using the message function and send a message to each student with feedback for the lesson. This is time-consuming, though. But if teachers use a template and re-use the feedback formulation for different students, it can be more efficient.

Hello Troy,

We have seen the same issue with several of our clients. The teacher can add comments while grading, but the students cannot view them.

We are also seeing that, if review options are set to yes, but the attempts is set to 1, that the student can only review the lesson one time, immediately after their attempt. After one review, they are told that they can no longer view the lesson. This compounds the issue with essay comments, because it is not likely that the teacher has graded the essays at that time.
