I think I know the answer.... but in case I missed something...
Is it possible to construct a block that can be added on Course Category pages? Ideally, I'd like to construct a block that could be persuaded to appear on *all* Course Category pages but nowhere else. Given that there isn't even an option to add blocks in the UI then I don't have much hope.
However, any thoughts?
