Shifted scores in "View all responses" for Rate questions

Shifted scores in "View all responses" for Rate questions

Hello.

I'm having trouble with the responses to Rate questions. The questions have default options 1 to 5, but the "View all responses" shows the responses as being from 2 to 6 (6 does not exist). This has the additional effect that the question that has real value 5, and apparent value 6, does not even show in the summary with percentages.

I'm pasting an image below to illustrate.

I've tried every option I could think of, even adding names to the levels, to see if it would help. No way around it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Tomás

What version of questionnaire are you using? This may be an old problem.

Hi Mike.

It's 3.7.0 (Build - 2019101700), on Moodle 3.7.2 (Build: 20190909).

Thanks!

I have experienced the same error on Moodle 3.6.3+ (Build: 20190315).
Will this bug be fixed in the next release?

Thanks!

Hi Mike.

Sorry for the bump, I was just wondering if you have any suggestions about this, since I'm holding back the release of our surveys to avoid having these scoring problems.

Thank you!

I haven't had a chance to look into this issue yet.

Can you confirm if the question type is using "named degrees"? And if so, are the named degree values something other than 1 to 5?

Nevermind... I can see that it is incorrect regardless.

I too have been affected by the issue with the rate questions, I have lots of 1-5 scales, but most of the responses are showing as 6,7,8 or 9 (which doesn't make much sense to me). I have updated the plugin to the latest version, which I can see has corrected recent completions of the questionnaire, but completions that were carried out a few weeks ago still ahve the wrong numbers in them. Is that data now corrupted for ever, or is there a way for me to get this back somehow?

Thanks in advance.

There was never anything wrong with the data. The only problem was in how it was displayed.
If you are seeing an issue in the data stored in the database, that is some other problem.
Note, that the response data was fixed so that previous data for rates which would have been stored as 0-4, are now stored as 1-5.
And, if you were using named degrees that used values other than the 1-n type (e.g. 2=Easy,4=Not so easy,6=Hard, ...), then the response now show the value of the selection (i.e 2,4 or 6) rather that the position of the degree. But, with the latest releases, the report displays should show the correct choice.
There was also a problem with the restore process, that might have restored incorrect data. That has been fixed in the recent release. If you used a restore operation in using 3.7.0, 3.7.1, and saw this problem, you may have to restore again after upgrading to the latest.
