Can anyone help me as an admin to make controlled personal chat between student and teacher ?

Case :

i'm an admin of my moodle site. I want to make mentoring session between student and teacher. Its a personal one by one chat format, but I need to know (as and admin) what is the conversation about, so i can control and record the mentoring process.

You could do that with the built in, Message, system. You could also install and use the Dialogue plugin. Advantage of Dialogue, is that if you do not want the students to be able to use it to "talk" to each other, remove the student permission for, Open a conversation. Then, they can only write to you, while you can write to all of them.

Thank you for your information.
But as an admin, I need to make an activity that can see and control the conversation between teacher and student.
In this case I have a role as a mediator.

In that case, then try the normal Moodle Chat activity. While setting it up, under Chat sessions, set the, Save past sessions, to, Never delete messages, and also set, Everyone can view past sessions, to, No. Then make sure your, Mediator, role has mod/chat:readlog capability, so that you can view the past chat sessions.

I am also wondering if it is possible to restrict chat to instructors and to individual students.  You mention Dialogue and I will look into that plugin.

Do you know if it can be set up on an ongoing basis to allow students to contact instructors during set days of the week (Mon-Sat) and times (9am-6pm MDT)?
