Wiki login misbehaving

Wiki login misbehaving

I am experiencing problems when users attempt to login to edit a wiki page.  The scenario is as follows:

  • Users visit the wiki page with guest login access.
  • The page instructs them to use login link in footer to edit page.
  • They login and are returned to the page, but login status is still set to guest and the wiki page doesn't display edit tab.
  • They navigate to other pages of the wiki or anywhere on the site and login status shows that they are logged in.
  • They navigate to the page they want to edit through the wiki site map and login status shows they are logged in.
  • This doesn't occur on the users first visit to the page but on all subsequent visits to the site.
  • Refresh (F5) of the page does not change login status

In addition, the opposite effect occurs if the user logs out and revisits the page without closing the browser:

  • User visits the page logged in
  • Logs out
  • Navigates to the page with guest login access
  • When the page is displayed, user login status is logged in to their account
  • User had edit tabs for the page
  • Navigating to the page through the wiki sitemap results in guest login status & no edit tabs

A sample wiki page that is having this problem is

http://www.wels.net/university/moodle/mod/wiki/view.php?id=469

or

http://www.wels.net/university/moodle/mod/wiki/view.php?id=469&page=group (link from sitemap)

I have observed this behavior using both IE & Firefox browsers.

I have searched the forums and not found mention of this behavior elsewhere, so please post links if it has been addressed already.

Thanks!
