I received this from a faculty member last week. I think I know how to accomplish this in Excel using COUNT and conditionals, but as far as I can tell Moodle doesn't have a count function for calculation.
"I have 2 categories of assignments: Practice Assignments and Evaluated Assignments. Practice assignments are graded using a Credit/No Credit scale. Evaluated assignments are graded using a Mastery, Pass, No Credit Scale. The initial course grade is determined by the number of evaluated assignments at the Mastery level:
A-: 3/3 Mastery
B-: 2/3 Mastery
C-: 1/3 Mastery
D: 3 Passes
F: <3 Passes
Grades can go
up by steps in the +/- scale based on percentage of practice assignments that
have earned credit:
Up 3 steps:
> or = 95% credit
Up 2 steps:
90-94% credit
Up 1 step:
85-89% credit
Example grade
calculation: If a student completes 2 of the 3 evaluated assignments at the
Mastery level, then the final course grade is a B-. If that same student also
completed 92% of the practice assignments for credit, then the final course
grade goes up two steps to a B+.
Is
there a way to make Moodle calculate the course grade for this grading system?"
