[3.6]Announcement forum only sends out mails to first 120 users

I have a very weird error.

When I post something in the announcement forum, it only goes out to around 120 users. Tested it a couple of times, 110-120 users are being send an email while actually over a thousand should get this mail.

We can see the mailproces start on the server, but it stops without giving any error.

When we use the Quickmail-block, this limitation doesn't kick in and all 1000+ users get the Email.

Both the forum and Quickmail use the same user to send the Email.

So what does Quickmail do better than the forum-mailer? Does anyone know what the problem might be?

I'm no longer experiencing this. We upgraded to Moodle 3.7 this summer.

Are you also on Moodle 3.6?

After reading this thread I read the following thread that was just updated:
https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=392865
And when looking at the issue mentioned there, MDL-66569, I noticed the following text in the description:
"However, when sending a forum post to a large number of people, after about 120 emails go out, I get a smtp connect failed for all the other emails.".

That fact that is the same number that you mentioned doesn't prove anything, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to tell you about this.
