I'm wondering about the "External log store" and performance that I have not been able to find documentation on.Does using the "External log store" mean some of the logging goes to the external store *instead* of to the logstore_standard log table, or does it go to both?
If it's "instead", does that mean the records will not be included in the course-level backup?
I'm really wondering if there's a performance gain for us here. Assuming:
- I have a large and busy Moodle 3.5+ install
- I am currently using logstore_standard only in the same DB as the rest of Moodle
- DB queries on the log table are slow and I can't fix / partition / truncate it
- My "External log store" DB is faster than the logstore_standard DB
Would using the "External log store" result in performance gains?
As far as I am aware, it will also stop you viewing logs within Moodle. There's no provision for viewing the contents of 'external' logs.
